Planting Hope: Roots Joins the 2nd Annual ACHIEVEability Impact Day
At Roots Landscape Inc., we believe in the power of landscaping to transform not just properties, but entire communities. On Friday, April 25, our team proudly joined URBN and a group of local partners for the 2nd Annual ACHIEVEability Impact Day — a community service initiative dedicated to brightening West Philadelphia through planting, building, and collaboration.
A Day of Service Rooted in Purpose
ACHIEVEability Impact Day brings together volunteers from across Philadelphia’s trades and businesses to invest time and resources directly into the local community. Last year, volunteers built and planted approximately 30 wooden containers throughout West Philadelphia neighborhoods. This year, the goal expanded dramatically: over 125 containers filled with fresh plantings to help bring new life to streets, parks, and shared spaces.
As a leading landscape company in Philadelphia and the surrounding Main Line area, Roots was honored to once again lend our expertise to the effort. Ahead of the event, our fine gardening crews worked alongside URBN teams at the Navy Yard to pre-plant more than 70 containers, ensuring everything would be ready for installation on Impact Day. During the event, our crews focused on container planting, assisting with garden maintenance, and preparing materials to support the larger volunteer effort.
Planting Beauty, Building Community
While Roots primarily supported the planting and garden beautification efforts, Impact Day also introduced additional enhancements this year, including the installation of mini free libraries throughout the community — creating even more opportunities for connection, growth, and inspiration.
Our commitment to landscape design and fine gardening goes beyond aesthetics. It’s about creating spaces that foster pride, joy, and a sense of belonging. Impact Day was a powerful reminder that thoughtful landscaping — even something as simple as a planted container — can spark lasting positive change.
Looking Ahead
We are grateful to ACHIEVEability, URBN, and all the volunteers who made this year’s Impact Day a success. As a Philadelphia landscape company deeply invested in our community, Roots looks forward to continuing our work — not just for our clients, but for the neighborhoods we’re proud to serve.
